The acronym OSAP stands for (Ontario Student Assistance Program). It is a program designed to help Ontario students pay for their education. OSAP grants are based on each student's individual financial needs. OSAP aid is based on a unique formula: allowable education costs minus expected financial contributions divided by financial need. OSAP aids are provided to full-time, part-time and graduate students in the form of scholarships, bursaries and grants. Your academic achievement is taken into consideration when given scholarships. To find out if you're eligible for OSAP, fill out the application form online. This financial aid is only given to you if you attend an OSAP approved college or universities along side of an approved study program. After filling out the online application form for OSAP, the ministry will check if your college or university and the program you have selected is approved. If your school or program is not approved, you will not be getting financial assistance. You can do a school search to see if your school and program is eligible. Some reasons why people can be ineligible for OSAP funds
- Did not meet the academic requirements.
- Convinced of criminal offence of fraud or theft.
- Defaulted on student loans or failed to repay OSAP overpayment
- Inaccurate information was submitted on OSAP application.
- You are bankrupt or filed bankruptcy on student loan debt.
